Scholars filled the seats in Johnson theatre once again on July 14 in anticipation of the third showcase. Just like the previous showcases, each act was met with roaring applause, cheers and laughter. This week’s performances ranged from singing popular songs, sharing hilarious comedy sets about the ins and outs of GSP to magnificent instrument performances and heartfelt poetry pieces.
Scholar Aneesh Sharma performed a comedy set about his unique GSP experience from his first week. Aneesh is notorious around campus for having the police check in on him for not calling home enough. His performance had scholars rolling all throughout Johnson theatre. Scholar Tony Xu gave another memorable comedy performance sharing how he was hit by a car biking to school. His performance included a staged fall, that left Tony with bruises on his leg.
Scholars performed beautiful renditions of songs, with performances ranging from country to musicals to alternative indie. Scholars David Lin and Lainey Zdarsky performed a rendition of the song Therapy from the musical Tick, Tick, Boom! Scholars Isabella Martos, Victor Monnin and Jorge Reyes performed From the Start by Laufey, complete with guitars. Their performance stuck with many audience members, and the original song was heard playing after the following Monday morning community meeting.
Similar to previous showcases, scholars also showed off their impeccable instrumental skills, ranging from piano performances to violin. Scholar Elayna Pinnick performed a piano piece titled I Give Up. Scholars Jane Locke, Rina Macaranas, Liz McClurg and Connor Price put their musical talents together to create a band to perform the 2010s classic song Tongue Tied.

This week’s tech crew included: Katherine Antoniou, Lily Cecil, Ali Dugla, Calvin Fussell, Hannah Garrott, Tyler Guffey, Cece McDaniel and Sam Treece.
