FRANKLIN HALL– 80 scholars woke up early Saturday morning to compete in the 2023 GSP Amazing Race.

The Amazing Race is a staple event for GSP, in which scholars, grouped in pairs and armed with a starting clue, have to scurry around all of campus as fast as possible on a scavenger hunt to gather and solve a set of 5 clues.

This years’ installment began just before 9:45 in the morning – before Winslow Dining Hall even opened for scholars – with the winners, Luke Jeziorski from Atherton High School in Louisville and Andrew Kramer from Saint Xavier, emerging triumphant through the doors of Franklin 58 minutes later.

When asked what it took to secure their victory, the pair responded with the classic, “blood, sweat and tears.” Over the duration of the race, Luke read from his fitness watch, the pair ran four miles at an impressive average pace of six minutes and thirty seconds per mile. Luke and Andrew went on to describe how they continually relied on the others’ athleticism to keep them pushing to the next clue. “I wouldn’t trade this partner for the world,” said Luke, followed by similar sentiments from Andrew. They also relied on the help of fellow scholar Andrew Brauer whose strategy compelled them to victory. The pair described the feeling of emerging triumph through the doors of Franklin as “going to Disneyland.”

Later this month, the GSP community has one more major athletic event, the (mandatory) GSP Olympics on July 16, along with, of course, the almost daily club meetings and other activities at the Intramural Fields, Wellness Center, and other locations. Feel free to join any clubs while you still can!
