The Music Theory and Performance Focus Area: Scholars Share Sound
The Music Theory and Performance focus area meets on the second floor of the Fine Arts building almost every day of the week. This class is composed of musicians from many different backgrounds and styles who come together to grow and explore. Tana Field, the instructor of the class, is incredibly knowledgeable and has many musical talents herself. Her main objective with the class is to “encourage collaboration and storytelling,” which is shown through the activities and projects her scholars complete.

The word philosophy brings to mind moments of discussion and allusive thoughts, however it isn’t just that at the Governor’s Scholars Program. The philosophy focus area embodies moments of discovery, not just discussion allowing for new perspectives and change in pace for the field itself. Not only highlighting the discussion necessary in readings of philosophical changes, but in artifacts as well.
GSPolitics: A Look into the Political and Legal Issues Focus Area
The Political and Legal Issues focus area at Murray State GSP is led by Dalton York. “The scholars will be exploring our political and legal systems through the lens of the external forces that influence public perception and internal policy-making decisions. In short, we are diving into political communication,” said Dalton.
